CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) has announced that it will be hosting its next training and networking event for the South African residential custom installation sector from 27th – 31st July in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. With membership in South Africa continuing to increase, CEDIA returns to the country for its seventh education event. To ensure the latest technology topics are covered with input from the local market, CEDIA has enlisted the help of subject matter experts, along with International presenters to host a number of training sessions in the country. CEDIA will initially be targeting the home technology professionals in the Cape area where it will be presenting its popular Home Cinema Design Workshop training on Monday 27th July. This session will be followed by a State of the Industry discussion and Connect with CEDIA networking event, where attendees can socialise with peers and CEDIA representatives and discuss the latest challenges facing the industry. This will be followed by a Champagne and Breakfast CPD Event for interior designers and architects. This SAIA (South African Institute of Architects) Accredited CPD, which is entitled “Designing Integrated Future Ready Homes”, is aimed at specifiers, to help them understand the basics of smart home technology. CEDIA will then move to Gauteng, where it will host a variety of training and networking sessions from Wednesday 29thto Friday 31stJuly at The Forum, Bryanston. During this time, CEDIA will run ten courses, including a number of new topical technology training course like Cables and Connectivity, Residential Networking, Introduction to Lighting Fundamentals, HDMI 2.0, and its Certification Exams. There will also be an opportunity to attend a Connect with CEDIA networking session and State of the Industry discussion on the Wednesday evening, while the second day will finish with the “Designing Integrated Future Ready Homes” CPD event again targeting local specifiers. “CEDIA is dedicated to its promise to develop the level of knowledge and skills of the residential industry. This can only be done by ensuring integrators have access to technical training, which is why we take our education sessions to our members, regardless of the country,” says Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director of CEDIA EMEA. “CEDIA’s certifications are internationally recognised within the industry and increasingly amongst homeowners, contractors and specifiers as a mark of expertise and quality in the residential installation industry. CEDIA’s education programme supports the alignment of our industry with that of other construction professionals. I would encourage all manufacturers and distributors to understand how working with technically trained integrators can improve their profitability and ask them to help us promote the event to the industry as a whole.” Below is the full training and networking schedule: Anyone who books before the 10th July will receive an early bird discount of 10% and a free CEDIA jacket.
