Epson, HARMAN and TiVo join rapidly growing roster of leading manufacturers adopting Control4’s SDDP technology to facilitate interoperability with the Control4® home automation platform Control4 Corporation (NASDAQ: CTRL), a leading provider of automation and control solutions for the connected home, today announced that nearly 60 global brands in consumer electronics, security, lighting and HVAC have adopted the Control4® Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP), making it easier to connect and integrate their products with one another via the Control4® home automation platform. The growing momentum for the Control4 platform and its SDDP technology represents a broadening interest on the part of manufacturers to play a deeper role in the connected home as home automation becomes mainstream. New SDDP licensees announced today include world-class brands such as HARMAN International (NYSE:HAR), the premium global audio and infotainment group; TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO), a global leader in the advanced television entertainment market; and Epson, the number-one selling projector brand worldwide. In addition to the companies announced today, other companies including Denon, Dish Networks, Integra, Lilin, Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba America Information Systems and Yamaha have already licensed SDDP technology for some of their products. The Control4® SDDP software technology is now integrated with hundreds of leading manufacturers’ products, ranging from flat panel TVs, projectors, and disc players to audio/video receivers and set-top boxes, to thermostats, security cameras and more. The SDDP technology enables device interoperability and integration with Control4® systems for a seamless and efficient experience from start to finish. With SDDP, the Control4 home automation system automatically finds and adds SDDP-enabled devices to the platform, dramatically reducing complexity and the installation time for Control4 dealers. Manufacturers can market the SDDP-enabled products as “automation-ready.” “Leading brands in the HVAC, cable and satellite, consumer electronics, and security industries are recognizing the strong and growing consumer interest in the connected home, and our SDDP technology provides these companies with a powerful connection point into the expanding home automation market,” said Martin Plaehn, Chairman and CEO, Control4. “By creating an ever-expanding eco-system of high-profile, SDDP-enabled consumer device manufacturers along with our worldwide network of thousands of Control4 certified automation specialists, Control4 is positioned to reach and serve more consumers to deliver exceptional connected home experiences.” “Incorporating Control4’s SDDP technology into a number of Harman’s new products will allow us to further penetrate the rapidly growing home automation market,” said Des Power, Vice President and General Manager for Harman’s Home & Multimedia business. “Providing a seamless integration of components is a key requirement for achieving total connectivity between home and mobile technology systems, and SDDP is a compelling solution that can enable such connectivity. We are excited to leverage its capabilities.” “Control4’s SDDP software and network of over 3,000 high-end custom installers gives our current and potential customers the team they are looking for to easily and confidently integrate TiVo into their smart homes,” said Doug Bieter, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at TiVo. “Our award-winning TiVo Roamio platform integrates cable TV and web content, offers 6 tuners, 450 hours of HD storage, integrated Wi-Fi and both in and out-of-home streaming technology providing the ultimate in content and viewing flexibility for the custom channel.”   “As the market leader in projectors, we are always looking for ways to make installation and home integration of our products easier and more accessible,” said Jason Palmer, Marketing Manager, Epson America. “Integration of Control4's SDDP technology in our future products will help us better serve our customers across a range of custom installation Home Cinema products.” www.control4.com
