Dolby TrueHD coming to 2017 LG TVs

LG has revealed that Dolby’s TrueHD lossless audio will soon be rolled out to LG’s flagship TV ranges via firmware update.

LG will soon be capable of rendering Dolby True HD soundtracks, in addition to having Dolby AC-4 decoding onboard powering their Dolby Atmos sound.

Coming to TVs later this month, the Dolby TrueHD surround sound codec supports eight channels of 24-bit/96kHz audio or six channels of 24-bit/192kHz. Its built-in decoder allows TrueHD content to be played through the TV's speakers the need for an amplifier.

The latest update packs in Codec MAT (Metadata-enhanced Audio Transmission) support too, enabling compatible TVs to stream Dolby TrueHD soundtracks on console games.
