The Only Way is Arteor
Legrand has helped to deliver the famous Essex bling factor to a luxury development in Chigwell with an Arteor lighting and blind control system operated via iPad apps.
Weston Homes’ Silverhind’ is a boutique development of 14 luxury apartments situated in a four-storey new build development with secure underground parking. Legrand’s Arteor building automation technology, supplied through Asheridge Communications, has been used across all the apartments for both lighting and blind control with complete integration with an iOS user interface, enabling occupiers to operate all their lighting, blinds, heating and AV systems via two iPads supplied with each property. The iPads are stored on magnetic wall-mounted chargers in the living area and master bedroom when not in use and all controls and scenes have been pre-loaded onto the devices by custom install specialist, RJK Security Systems Ltd. Each apartment has also been pre-wired with Cat 6 cabling, full HDMI distribution for smart TVs and free 100Mb broadband for a year to ensure they are move-in ready for buyers.
The complex lighting system features under cabinet and plinth LED lighting in the kitchen along with dimmable overhead lights. In the living/dining area there are dimmable main ceiling lights and a feature dining light along with a coffered ceiling with recessed colour change RGB (Red Green Blue) wall wash lighting. The lights can be operated via the iPad, by using the Arteor mirror white manual switches or by using the Arteor six channel touchplate which includes scenes for dining, cooking and watching TV as well as all on’ and all off’. Meanwhile, in the master bedroom, RJK has installed an Arteor scenario switch by the bedhead which enables the end user to control the blinds, bedside lights and ceiling lights from the comfort of their bed and even includes a sleep’ scene which turns off all lights in the apartment with the touch of a single button.
Richard King from RJK comments: “Our brief from Weston Homes was to futureproof the apartments as much as possible and to make them easy to use for a wide demographic of end user, including retired buyers. Legrand’s Arteor system is ideal for this because it is so flexible and can be integrated seamlessly with third party technologies. As a result we were able to combine stylish Arteor manual switching with both wall-mounted Arteor scenario touchplates and iPad apps to create a very simple to operate user interface. The development is now more than two-thirds occupied and we haven’t received a single phone call from residents - which proves that home automation can be suitable for all!â€
