FeelReal wants you to smell the virtual coffee with its sensory mask for VR headsets that aim to bring 250 scents to the VR experience.
By using a ‘scent generator’, holding a replaceable cartridge containing 9 individual scent capsules, the VR experience can be tailored with scents that best suit the kind of content that the user is engaging with such as a lavender smell for a meditation experience or burning rubber for a car chase scene.
An ionizing system allows for the sensation of water mist, while two micro-coolers and micro-heaters create the sensation of wind and heat with feedback haptic motors being used to simulate the effects of vibration.
Feelreal’s sensory mask will support some VR games at launch with more planned for the future, as well as being compatible with some 360 videos via the ‘Feelreal player’.
The mask is compatible with Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, HTC Vive and Playstation VR.
