Sonos adds support for UHD & Dolby Atmos on Amazon Music

Working to further improve the listening experience, Sonos has introduced support for Ultra HD audio and Dolby Atmos Music on Amazon Music.

The Ultra HD support allows users to listen to their favourite music in lossless audio up to 24-bit/48kHz on Sonos speakers, while Dolby Atmos Music makes the listening experience more immersive, revealing more details with clarity and depth.

Ultra HD will be available to listen on all S2 devices, except Play:1, Play:3, Playbase, and Playbar, while Dolby Atmos Music will be available to listen on Arc and Beam (Gen 2).

Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers have access to more than 75 million songs available in HD, more than 7 million in Ultra HD and a growing catalogue of spatial audio. For a limited time, customers who are not Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can get three months for free.

To make it easier to know what audio customers are experiencing, listeners using Sonos Radio HD and Amazon Music Unlimited will see a badge on the Now Playing Screen. The HD badge will indicate a lossless 16-bit stereo stream, the Ultra HD badge means 24-bit stereo stream, and the Dolby Atmos will be a song mixed and available in Dolby Atmos.
