Sonos hikes prices in response to chip shortages

This week has seen a sharp price increase on some of Sonos’ most popular wireless speakers, ranging from £20/$10 more for its recent Roam speaker, to £149/$50 more for its Sub and £100/$100 more for its Arc soundbar.

The announcement was made during its earnings call where, according to The Verge, Sonos said that it’s “always assessing the market dynamics – including demand, supply chain, component costs and the competitive landscape”. The statement suggests that the universal issue with chip shortages could be something to do with the price hike.

The chip shortage is affecting companies across the world and has been cited as the reason for low supply of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles. Experts think the shortage will remain throughout next year and maybe even longer.
