Prominent CI distributor, AWE has introduced the breath-taking LG 55EA980V to its comprehensive UK screen portfolio. Cited as the world’s first concave screen, the 980V utilises the latest OLED technology and a raft of smart functionality, to satisfy even the most discerning audience. AWE LG Curve 55EA980V One of the most striking aspects of the full HD 55” OLED screen is that it is curved slightly towards the viewer, allowing an equal distance between almost any part of the screen and the viewer’s eyes. This all but eliminates the problem of screen-edge distortion, alongside greatly reducing detail loss and creating heightened immersion while viewing. Employing passive 3D technology, the 980V really shines thanks to its fast refresh rate. LG’s own MotionFlow technology also helps to smooth pictures and emphasise the screen’s pixel-perfect clarity, and is especially noticeable during fast moving action films or sport broadcasts. “With its extremely high contrast ratio, the colour range on the 980V really has to be seen to be believed,” comments Paul Mott, Sales Director at AWE. “The huge advantage of OLED compared to traditional LED televisions, is that individual pixels can be dimmed or turned off independently. This means that when a very dark scene appears on the screen, individual pixels turn off so that there is no visible backlight, creating a depth of field never before seen with traditional televisions.” The LG 55EA980V uses a curved variant of LG’s WRGB panel, which includes an extra white pixel in each cluster to enhance image performance and produce colours rich in clarity and vibrance. Due to the absence of a LED backlight, the screen measures just 5mm in depth and looks incredibly sleek as a result. Connectivity options are numerous, with four side exit HDMI ports and three USB ports. Facing downwards are all remaining connections, including an optical audio output, RF Input for the Freeview HD tuner and a satellite connector. Wi-Fi is built in and also supports Miracast, for screen mirroring with compatible Android devices.
