Bang & Olufsen moves into portable speaker market

Speaker manufacturer, Bang & Olufsen has introduced its Beosound Explore, a robust portable speaker designed for use on the move.

Ideal for outdoor use, the Beosound Explore is lightweight, dust and waterproof and has a long battery life. The speaker is housed in Type 2 anodised aluminium for improved scratch resistance and robustness. Manufactured at Bang & Olufsen’s Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark, the anodisation is achieved by building up the aluminium oxide on the surface. Despite its durable outer shell, the speaker weighs just 631 grams.

A dual 1.8” full range driver delivers powerful sound and special attention has been paid to its outdoor performance and bass, delivering 59dB in bass capability despite its compact size. The grill is cut in 360-degree lines to ensure True360 omnidirectional sound.

Hence the name, Explore is designed with the outdoors and portability in mind, and so features an aluminium carabiner so the speaker can hang securely from a rucksack. Its cylindrical shell also provides a secure grip and fits easily into rucksack pockets.

Beosound Explore can be used for long days out with 27 hours of playtime at typical listening volumes.

Similar to Scandinavian forests, glaciers and fjords, the Beosound Explore comes in a choice of Black Anthracite, Green or Grey Mist finishes for a more natural aesthetic. It features a simple and intuitive user interface on top of the speaker for full visibility and is easy to use even with gloves on.

The Black Anthracite and Green models of Beosound Explore are available now priced at £169 / €199 / $199. The Grey Mist model will be available in summer this year.
