Following on from the launch its Pro Cinema 4050 4K ‘PRO-UHD1’ projector at CEDIA 2018 earlier this month, Epson has launched a "pixel-shifting" not-quite-4K option for the other end of the price spectrum: the Home Cinema 4010.
There’s may be number of entry-level projects for those who quite can’t budget to a full 4K performing projector around (Cc: Optoma, BenQ), but Epson clearly thinks it can take a slice of the action too.
Opting for three LCDs instead of its DLP peers, the Home Cinema 4010, the projector calls upon “pixel-shifting” technology to create three 1080p microdisplays. It is also HDR10 ready, though Dolby Vision or HDR10+ is not an option just yet, as with others out there – neither is voice control, which is found on Optoma’s latest offering in the same price bracket.
The 4010 comes in at just under $2,000 in the US (check Epson’s website for local pricing).
For those intent of native 4K, there’s Epson’s CEDIA-launched Pro Cinema 4050 4K model – the first to feature the manufacturer’s newly developed 4K PRO-UHD technology, offering 2,400 lumens, a contrast ratio 200,000:1 and HDR10 to boot.
Or, of course, Sony’s 3-model strong 4K Motionflow technology laser range also recently launched at San Diego.
