Loudspeaker launch: Meridian’s DSP9 ushers in new look for manufacturer

British audio manufacturer Meridian unveiled the DSP9 digital active loudspeaker at High End Munich this week, revealing a completely new cabinet design.

The DSP9 is the second speaker in the Meridian’s Extreme Engineering Programme that has seen the company invest in technology development over several years.

Pushing the boundaries of cabinet design, Meridian has created a totally new look that it also says offers acoustic benefits with 3D spaces within the cabinet enhancing performance and a curved exterior minimising diffraction.

The DSP9 features an Atlas software core, precision sonic transport, R1 electronics platform, next generation drive units and force-balanced bass configuration.

Meridian technologies deployed for DSP9 include Digital Precision, Q-Sync, True Link, True Time, E3 Bass, Image Focus +, Pro-Active Bass, Pro-active Thermal, FFA, Free-Q, Perfect Balance and BSM.

The DSP9 can be setup and controlled via the Meridian B-Link Bluetooth device, IR, USB, RS232, or with a Meridian controller product. An IA21 analogue input module changes the functionality of the DSP9 so it can be fed from any non-Meridian product or system which features a balanced or unbalanced line-level analogue output. Meridian’s Select finishing service delivers custom colours in matte or gloss.
