Adding to its home cinema product portfolio, McIntosh has revealed the MX200 AV Processor, offering up to 11.2 channels of signal processing and 8K viewing.
The new processor is highly versatile, adapting to various home theatre configurations from 5.1 up to 7.2.4 surround sound speaker arrangements.
Designed to cater to both DIY enthusiasts and professional integrators as part of a custom install project, the MX200 features a sleek, streamlined design to complement any home entertainment space. It facilitates 8K, 4K or HD content viewing from streaming services as well as content from Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD discs.
To match the high-quality viewing, the MX200 supports immersive audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. In addition, compatibility with a variety of McIntosh home theatre amplifiers and surround sound speakers offers users the ability to customise their ideal entertainment experience.
Four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output are included to support 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video and are compatible with HDCP 2.3, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, 4:4:4 colour spacing, Rec. 2020, and 3D video pass-through. The HDMI output features enhanced eARC functionality to give users the full potential of high-resolution audio formats.
Additional audio devices, such as CD players, tuners or music streamers, can be added thanks to digital audio inputs which include two coax and two optical. Seven premium 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) are included to provide audiophile grade processing.
For turntable connection, a Moving Magnet phono input is available along with a pair of balanced and unbalanced auxiliary inputs to connect other audio devices.
To connect to home theatre amplifier(s), the MX200 has 11 discrete balanced outputs and two discrete unbalanced subwoofer outputs. Bass and treble tone controls can help fine tune the audio to personal preferences.
Dirac Live Room Correction Full Bandwidth and its corresponding licence is included on the MX200 to deliver advanced room adjustment and correction. An advanced room acoustic solution, Dirac Live enables users to optimise their sound systems and reduce unwanted effects introduced by the room.
The sleek design of the MX200 features an aluminium and glass front panel, with an illuminated McIntosh logo and rotary control knobs. Its compact 2U rack size and included rack mounting brackets allow it to be easily integrated into an AV equipment rack.
Pre-configuration opportunities allow integrators to simply load the file at installation. Integrators and users can also experiment with different configuration file settings thanks to backup options via computer or USB stick.
Users have control of the processor via a remote control or home automation system integration via RS232 control protocol. The MX200 has received Control4 Certification from Control4 and Works with Crestron Home Certification.
Available now, the MX200 processor has an MSRP of £7,995 / €8,290 / $6,000.
