McIntosh has unveiled its new MI1250 12-Channel Power Amplifier, bringing McIntosh sound quality to AV systems and custom installations everywhere.
The new 12-channel digital distribution amplifier offers 50 watts of power into 8 ohms and 90 into 4, with power distributed via sophisticated closed-loop digital switching amplifiers that are paired with robust power supplies.
The MI1250 is a highly efficient Class D amplifier, meaning that it does not require noisy cooling fans to maintain nominal operating temperature. This also makes it even more installer-friendly and rack-mountable.
The front panel displays multi-colour LED indicators to show the status of each channel. There are unbalanced inputs on the back, located with two-pole Phoenix-style push-in speaker terminals for each channel, as well as volume controls and four digital inputs: two optical and two coaxial.
Benefitting from several proprietary McIntosh technologies, the MI1250 features Power Guard signal-overload technology that prevents speaker overdrive; Sentry Monitor short-circuit protection circuit that disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating levels, automatically resetting; BUS input and outputs to easily distribute the stereo signal to multiple outputs and/or multiple amplifiers and 12-volt triggering.
The device is powered off if no input signal has been detected for a set amount of time from the eco-friendly on/off signal-sensor. It automatically turns the amp on when signal is sensed.
The MI1250 will start shipping from November, but can be pre-ordered now priced at £4,995.
