Samsung bolsters ’˜The Frame’ with HDR, voice and more

When ‘The Frame’ TV first came out back in March, some may have dismissed it a bit of novelty, but sales are seemingly going well, and Samsung has decided to make owning one an even better prospect.

The Frame 2018 will pack in lot more than the picture frame-cum-TV we first saw back at CEDIA 2017, and other events last year.

Updates include its 4K UHD quality being bolstered with support for HDR10+, and its connectivity options widened to work with a number of streaming options, as with Samsung’s 2018 QLED TVs.

Samsung’s voice assistant, Bixby, has also been thrown in for good measure, giving TV owners the ability to change channels or manage other devices in the home – in the same vein of LG’s 2018 line of “AI-powered” TVs.

For art lovers, The Frame’s accompanying store has been updated to now feature 800 art and photography pieces homeowners can proudly display in their home. Samsung also says it has put time in to improving the interface so users can browse art via colour scheme or medium.

The 2018 model of Samsung’s The Frame is available in the US now ($1,999 for a 55-in and $2,799 for a 65-in TV), with more details on a European release expected to follow soon. You can bet we’ll see the latest iteration of The Frame at CEDIA in San Diego this September too.
