Samsung unveils latest ultra-short-throw 4K projectors for home entertainment

Samsung Electronics has launched The Premiere 9 and The Premiere 7 ultra-short-throw (UST) projectors, delivering 4K resolutions, immersive audio and other advanced features for home entertainment.

Its latest innovations in The Premiere lineup uses Samsung’s advanced laser technology. The Premiere 9 features triple laser technology for enhanced colour accuracy and brightness, while both models offer ultra-short-throw capabilities and vibrant 4K resolution on screens up to 130-in.

Both new projectors provide colour gamut coverage 154% (Premiere 9) and 100% (Premiere 7) of the DCI-P3 standard, while both models support HDR10+ ensuring clear and vivid images, even in bright environments. With a maximum brightness of 3,450 ISO lumens for The Premiere 9 and 2,500 ISO lumens for The Premiere 7, these projectors both deliver sharp and dynamic visuals.

Further enhancing the picture quality, the new projectors are equipped with innovative AI picture enhancements, including AI Upscaling and Vision Booster. AI Upscaling ensures that content is displayed in 4K resolution, regardless of its original quality. Vision Booster automatically adjusts brightness and contrast in various lighting conditions for optimal picture quality.

Immersive audio is provided by built-in speakers with Dolby Atmos technology. The Premiere 9 features 40W 2.2.2 channel up-firing speakers, while The Premiere 7 includes 30W 2.2ch speakers for an expansive dome of sound.

Equipped with Samsung Tizen OS Home, the new Premiere models offer access to a wide range of streaming services, including Samsung TV Plus, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and more.

Gamers have access to the Samsung Gaming Hub via the projectors, offering a seamless gaming experience. Users can enjoy games without the need for a console, accessing a choice of cloud-based games directly through the projector.

With aesthetics in mind, Custom Ambient is included, allowing users to project various widgets onto the living space, offering personalised home decorations. Users can combine photos, videos and widgets freely via the SmartThings app on their mobile phones.

When not in use as a cinematic projector, The Premiere can be used as a smart speaker with hands-free voice control and a variety of music applications.

The projectors allow content sharing from user’s smartphones via Tap View and Mirroring, while embedded voice assistant support allows easy control of the projector and other connected devices with simple voice commands.

Additionally, Samsung’s SmartThings integration enables users to manage smart home devices such as lights, thermostats and security systems from the projector, thereby creating a fully integrated home environment.

In terms of design, the projectors are warm white with rounded edges and a premium fabric finish from Kvadrat, a Danish textile design company. The minimalist and compact size, as well as easy installation makes the projectors an ideal fit for any space in the home.

Set up is simple, involving plugging in the projector and connecting to a wireless network. UST capabilities eliminate the need for complex installations, allowing users to enjoy big screen pictures with minimal effort.

The new Premiere 9 and Premiere 7 projectors are available now in the US, Canada and China with rollout continuing into other regions later this year.
