Sony Electronics has announced two new additions to the MASTER Series lineup: the Z9G 8K LCD and A9G 4K OLED televisions.
The MASTER Series is intended to deliver the best quality TVs from Sony to match a professional-grade monitor whilst also featuring Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced to further ensure content is delivered as intended.
Both new models feature the latest generation Picture Processor X1 Ultimate for accurate detail and contrast. Introduced last year in the first MASTER Series models, the processor has a unique algorithm specially developed for 8K that can intelligently detect and analyse each object in the picture delivering a more realistic image.
Not forgetting sound, the A9G and Z9G models both include the new Sound-from-Picture Reality feature, moving the sound to reflect where it’s coming from on the screen. When actors are speaking, the sounds will appear to come directly from their mouths rather than the TV speaker.
The Z9G will be available in 98-in (97.5-in diagonal) and 85-in (84.6-in diagonal) maximising the screen size for a better viewing experience. With the bigger screen size, Sony is introducing extra resolution with its first consumer 8K television to make sure there is virtually no pixel differentiation.
Sony’s 4K OLED A9G model will be released in 77-in (76.7-in diagonally), 65-in (64.5-in diagonally) and 55-in (54.6-in diagonally) sizes. The Picture Processor X1 Ultimate controls over 8 million individual self-illuminating pixels for better colour and brightness qualities and improves SD and HD content to near-4K HDR quality.
Sony has included its Android TV in both models supporting a huge range of apps from Google Play including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu and more. Voice controls are enabled using Google Assistant improving the smart home experience for the user.
Another added feature to improve ease-of-use, a new smart remote will be available allowing viewers to switch between connected devices (cable/satellite boxes, Blu-ray players, game consoles, etc) without having to use different remote controllers.
Pricing will be announced in spring 2019.
