French company, StormAudio has unveiled a host of new products as well as a roadmap of significant feature updates coming over the next year at its online product launch and update conference hosted from its headquarters in Nantes, France.
The company launched its ISP Core 16 processor, an AoIP AES67 option for the ISP MK2 range, and a completely redesigned cross-platform smartphone application.
ISP Core 16
At the online event, StormAudio’s CEO, Olivier Thumerel and product manager, Sebastien Gailleton presented the new ISP Core 16. With a design based on the award-winning StormAudio ISP MK2 platform, this preamplifier/processor gives consumers a sleek, compact and more accessible option that delivers multiple functions and high performance in a 3U chassis.
Made in France, ISP Core 16 supports up to 16 channels and has the power to decode all the latest immersive formats, including Auro-3D, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision. It also capable of any post-processing, including Dirac Live, to optimise any speaker in any room straight out of the box.
The ISP Core 16 comes with multiple functions which can be controlled through iOS and Android remote control apps, an IR remote control handset which is included, and is compatible with all major home automation providers.
It also features a new advanced colour display on the front panel that allows integrators to troubleshoot HDMI and codec issues directly from the front of the unit.
This is the first time a StormAudio processor has been available below an MSRP of €10,000 / $12,000. It will start shipping in Q4 of 2021 with pre-orders available now.
AoIP AES67 module
StormAudio has expanded the range for its flagship sustainable ISP MK1 and MK2 platform with the new AoIP AES67 option. The new module has been developed to make the processors compatible with the increasing demands for AoIP application in different fields. Especially for residential projects, the module is fully compatible with DCI and Dolby ecosystems.
The module supports up to 32ch input and 32ch output, based on merging ZMAN technology, and is Ravenna and Dante AES67 mode compatible. AoIP installations have full access to the ISP features, including 32ch DSP processing, multi-theatre and multizone management, Dirac Live and Bass Control in any room.

Other features
The online event also revealed StormRemote Mobile, a newly designed app dedicated for smartphones that is compatible with both iOS and Android so any end user can have easy control of the ISP processors. The redesigned app has a new responsive interface for the mobile so that key settings are at the user’s fingertip and are always easily accessible at any time.
The company also announced that there will be more features coming to its processors later this year through software/firmware upgrades. Later this month, the in-house-designed proprietary StormXT engine will be released, an ambiance channel expander that works in conjunction with existing upmixing algorithms to extract relevant audio signals from nearby speakers and redirect them to silent, unused speakers to make full use of all speakers in the cinema.
The company has promised more announcements to follow next year.
