Josh.ai ramps up AI focus at CEDIA 2018

High end home automation specialist Josh.ai used CEDIA 2018 as a platform to showcase its latest developments in machine learning and product integrations.

Josh.ai’s chief announcement sees the introduction of a new app designed with a strong AI focus, bringing with it more personalised safety and security, energy management, and entertainment control.

With the release of the updated Josh 3.0 App, the Denver-based company states it is staking a claim to being the “first home control interface that will actively utilise machine learning based off of user-specific living patterns." The app’s dashboard now is able to make suggestions based on time of day and usage data, alongside other user-orientated suggestions. The design furthermore uses ‘day’ and ‘night’ colour schemes and supports greater remote troubleshooting to simplify both the installer and client’s experience.

At the show, the company additionally debuted a newly introduced the ability to route audio and video in the home with whilst still benefiting from the company’s proprietary natural language processing. Moving beyond scene-based voice commands, the Josh platform now can offer native support of audio and video distributed matrix switchers from manufacturers including Onkyo, Sonos, Heos, Sony, Barco and Crestron (DM and SWAMP).

Integration with Savant sees the Josh ecosystem now support Control4, Crestron and Savant, with further integration with Crestron and its Pyng platform announced too.

Josh.ai also revealed that it has doubled its integrator network in 2018 so far as it focuses on expansion into key US markets. The third round of Josh Micro production will also take place soon.
