Polk Audio intros MagniFi wireless soundbar

polk magnifi max 5.1 surround system deployed in living room of home

First there was the MagniFi Mini, but now Polk Audio has taken thing to the max (literally) with its MagniFi Max SR 5.1 surround system.

Boasting Bluetooth and Google Chromecast capabilities, in addition to UHD 4K pass-through, Polk Audio’s newest 5.1 channel soundbar comes with two wireless surround speakers.

The system consists of 2.5cm by 8cm full-range drivers, two 2cm tweeters, a 2.5cm centre channel driver and a 20cm ported woofer.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also DTS and Dolby Digital decoding, alongside Polk’s SDA technology for creating a “soundstage.”

Outputs includes a HDMI input, three built-in UHD 4K HDMI inputs, an optical input and a 3.5mm port on the soundbar. Bluetooth and Ethernet support are on offer for streaming too, with Chromecast built-in for access to music streaming services or other Google Assistant speakers.

The system comes with its own remote, but also can be used with an existing IR TV remote thanks to ‘Smart Home’ compatibility.

Polk’s MagniFi MAX SR will be released in December. It will be priced at £700 in the UK.
