Sharp launches new flagship Home Cinema Projector (7/6/2004)

Sharp UK introduced their new flagship Home Cinema projector on Marata's stand at CEDIA Expo 2004.

The new model XV-Z12000 supersedes the highly acclaimed XV-Z10000 projector and embodies many new features including the new "HD2+" DMD(TM) chip set from Texas Instruments and Sharp's upgraded proprietary computer video & integrated composer (CV-IC) system ll technology for up-converting standard video signals to the native HD resolution of the projector. The XV-Z12000 5500:1 contrast ratio (in high contrast mode) and high brightness rating of 900 ANSI lumens (in high brightness mode) delivers one of the best pictures available in home cinema today.

"Calibrating the new Z12000 is a breeze" said Dave Barton who heads up the projector business unit at Sharp UK "we have provided the installer with the most comprehensive colour adjustment control [for any single lens projector] normally only available with high-end CRT projectors".

Other features include HDCP compliant DVI-I connectivity, 7-segment 5x-speed colour wheel, powered iris control and mechanical lens shift.

Sharp now offer four widescreen home cinema projectors covering the full range from entry level (XV-Z10) through mid range (XV-Z200 & Z210) to the flag-ship XV-Z12000.
