NETGEAR Enhances Home And Small Business Wireless
Networking Experience With Intel Centrino Mobile Technology Interoperability
Verification (7/7/2004)
NETGEAR Inc., a worldwide provider of technologically
advanced, branded networking products, today announced that four
products have completed the Intel Wireless Verification Program
for interoperability with notebook PCs utilising Intel Centrino
mobile technology. NETGEAR worked closely with Intel to verify conformance
for home and small office (SOHO) products to ensure seamless interoperability.
Consumers can confidently build easy-to-use, standards-based wireless
networks integrating NETGEAR and Intel Centrino mobile technology-based
products.
The initial round of Intel Centrino mobile
technology product verifications include the NETGEAR WGT624 108
Mbps Wireless Firewall Router and WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router
for home and SOHO users. For small- business users, the NETGEAR
WG302 ProSafe 802.11g Wireless Access Point and FWG114P ProSafe
802.11g Wireless Firewall with USB Print Server have also been verified.
The packaging of all four award-winning NETGEAR products will now
display a 'Connect with a laptop featuring Intel Centrino mobile
technology' badge to inform customers of the interoperability testing.
These four NETGEAR products have already
been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance for complete compatibility
with the IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g wireless standards, and the WPA
security standards for multi-vendor interoperability. Wi-Fi Alliance
certification is a pre-requisite to verification by the Intel Wireless
Verification Program.
Said Manda Rigby, NETGEAR's UK & Ireland
Managing Director, "We are very pleased to join Intel's initiative
to accelerate consumer adoption of wireless connectivity. The Intel
Centrino mobile technology compatibility verification underscores
NETGEAR's commitment to keep everybody connecting. We recognise
that industry approval and standards-based technology are key factors
in purchasing decisions."
"We welcome NETGEAR's participation in the
Intel Wireless Verification Program," said Karen Regis, director
of marketing programs, Intel's Mobile Platforms Group. "By testing
for interoperability with notebooks based on Intel Centrino mobile
technology, NETGEAR is reinforcing its commitment to enhancing its
customers' mobile computing."
