News Kinetics Noise Control Offers RIM, A Unique Floating Floor System (3/10/2005) Only Kinetics Noise Control can offer you the Resiliently Isolated Floating Floor System (RIM). RIM consists of a 1"-thick load-bearing pad sealed in a resilient waterproof flexible coating. The floor pads are pre-positioned in a 48"x 25'- or 50'-long sound-absorbing blanket. Prior to installation, a perimeter isolation material is used to separate the RIM Floor System from any adjacent or structural walls. After the floor system is installed, two layers of 1Ú2"-thick 5-ply plywood are installed by staggering the joints at opposing directions. The top layer is glued and screwed to the bottom layer to control floor squeaks. At the completion of the floor system, the isolated room is ready for construction.
