JVC introduces VN-E4 4-channel network encoder for IP security (11/11/2005)

The VN-E4 four-camera input capability offers live full-motion video at VGA and is a cost effective analogue to IP security solution

JVC's VN-E4 4-channel encoder is the latest addition to its line-up of IP networking products and is developed to enable security integrators converting analogue camera systems to IP surveillance systems. Unique to the surveillance market, this encoder achieves live full-motion at 30fps on all four channels simultaneously at VGA resolution in JPEG compression.

"The addition of the VN-E4 encoder provides customers with quality, high resolution full-motion video images and will reduce the overall system cost to the end user. The encoder's built-in Web server allows the user to connect the surveillance system directly to the Internet without having to route it through a dedicated computer. This feature enables the delivery of high quality live images to multiple computers via the Internet anywhere in the world.

Multicast capability allows this versatile video server to deliver the same high-quality images to any and all computers on your network and there's virtually no frame rate degradation when the encoder is accessed by multiple users. The VN-E4 is able to multi-stream VGA and QVGA simultaneously which comes in handy when clients have limited bandwidth.

The VN-E4 comes equipped with two ports, RS-485 or RS-232C, to control remotely installed cameras. Using the external device controller in combination with built-in viewer, this convenient capability makes it possible to control operations and settings on fixed and PTZ dome cameras. This is achieved through a single window on a PC screen.

Other important functions include Pre-Post Alarm Recording, Motion Detection, Two-way Audio, FTP client.
