Fatman debuts Mothership tube amp at CEDIA Expo (22/8/2007)

CEDIA US Expo 2007

From the maker of the Award-winning iTube Valve dock comes the mother of all vacuum amplifiers: for a hugely reasonable £5000 Fatman's remarkable Mothership pumps out 200 watts - per channel!

The iTube ValveDock kicked off the journey: now glowing with satisfaction from the buying public's sweeping vote of confidence, Fatman has made its stereo fantasy a reality. The Mothership flagship amplification system comprises the iTube Controlroom preamp, plus a pair of iTube Engineroom monoblocks. The price for this triple-box, 200 watts-per-side stack of valve heaven is £5000. At this level of performance, this price is not just competitive, it is practically unfair.

The iTube Controlroom is the Mothership system's brains: a Class A vacuum tube preamplifier, this unit boosts the source signals to a level suitable for its brothers-in-valves, the Engineroom twins. Equipped with six premium-quality valves, and housing exceptional components, the Controlroom's firm chassis is meticulously assembled. The unit is also, naturally, a visual as well as sonic match for its power siblings.

Working in harmony with the preamplifier, the two iTube Enginerooms take the musical signal to a whole new level. Each monoblock power amplifier unloads a whopping 200 watts, meaning the Mothership - regardless of driving demands - fears no speakers. The beautifully crafted Engineroom units each draw on eighteen perfectly matched, lovingly assembled vacuum tubes to achieve a shared goal of audio excellence.

Match the Mothership with some suitable partners - here Fatman is, as ever, realistic enough to realize an iPod may be one of the sources, but respectfully suggests Lossless is possibly the most appropriate file format for a £5000 valve amp! - and the sterling price may well add up, but the sound-per-pound return astonishes.

James Roth of Fatman says, "Forget just living the dream, here at Fatman we are hearing and seeing the dream. The Fatman family is growing up - I'm pleased to say more than a few have already left home! - so it's especially satisfying to now see the Mothership, or 'Big Mutha', looking so fine, and so proud."

The Fatman Mothership will be available in the UK and Europe from September 2007 and will have an approximate suggested retail price (inc. VAT) of £5000.
