Amina launches new AIWX range of invisible Plaster In-wall loudspeakers (2/6/2008) Stand E25, CEDIA UK Expo 2008 Amina Technologies, Huntingdon, UK, today announced the launch of their new complementary AIWX range of invisible Plaster In-wall loudspeakers. The AIWX products, developed in conjunction with the new, proprietary APU2 protection unit, allows Amina to extend their period of standard warranty cover by over 40%, to an industry leading ten years.
"The development of the AIWX and APU2 give our Installers and their customers even greater peace of mind when installing our unique speakers" commented Richard Newlove, Managing Director, Amina. "We have proactively looked at what may happen after the speaker is installed: from changes in driving hardware to changes in owner. The APU2 in tandem with the AIWX enables us to take our already highly reliable product to the next level." In addition to the new warranty, Amina's groundbreaking compensation scheme has been extended to match the increased warranty period. When correctly installed and used with a APU2, should an Amina AIWX loudspeaker fail due to defective parts or workmanship in the product at any time during the warranty period a sum of USD250, GBP125 or EUR190 will be paid toward redecoration costs. The invention of the APU2 Protection Unit is key to the improved reliability of the AIWX speakers. The unit is located between the amplifier and the AIWX speaker and provides a High Pass filter facility as well as DC blocking to protect the plastered in speaker. The APU2 has also been developed to directly address future situations, after installation, where amplifiers are replaced or a new resident acquires the property in which the speakers are installed. The APU2 also features an integral thermally resetable fuse which prevents users inadvertently over driving the plastered in speakers. The new 10 year warranty runs from date of purchase for 10 years and is available on all speakers in the AIWX range that are installed correctly according to the manufacturer's guidelines. As it says the AIWX loudspeakers are actually plastered in to the wall or ceiling to become completely invisible allowing customers, architects and designers to concentrate on the design of their space. The innovative speakers put a space age spin on a millennia old sound generation technique, Amina loudspeakers use the same soundboard principle as acoustic instruments: billions of tiny vibrations are created in the panel and these excite the air molecules on the surface which in turn create sound. It's how an acoustic guitar or violin work. This is in contrast to traditional loudspeakers which involve a piston pumping in and out to move the air to create the sound. In the Amina loudspeakers the panel face creates tiny displacements and the movements are so small that other materials can be bonded to the speaker to conceal it. These vibrations pass through the covering material seamlessly creating the sound on the surface. "Provided the product and the APU2 are installed correctly, which is very straight forward (video instructions are now available), and is matched correctly with driver amplifier and electronics, the installer creates an incredibly reliable long term system." said Richard Newlove, Managing Director. Amina AIWX Plaster In wall range comes in three different power rating 20 watt, 40 watt and 80 watt and retail from £350 to match the loudness and budgets of people and their listening spaces.
