Norwegian Adapt Control Solutions is opening an office in Qatar (5/6/2008)

Stand G20, CEDIA UK Expo 2008

The introduction of the Adapt Control Solutions has been highly successful in Europe over the last few years with its automation and control systems for residential housing. Now the company is looking east and is establishing a regional office in Qatar's capital Doha - for further growth in the Middle East. Adapt Control Solutions will attend Cedia Expo
2008 in June. Visit them at stand G20 for a demonstration of Adapts control solutions for residential and office buildings.

Adapt Control Solutions recently launched its building management system, ABC (Adapt Building Control), a specially-developed control and information system for offices, commercial buildings and hotels. The system is a further development of the company's solution for private homes and makes it possible for property owners, companies and hotel owners to monitor and control energy consumption, security systems, light and other technical infrastructure in a more cost-effective, secure and logical manner. Adapt feels this system is much needed in the local markets in Qatar.

"This part of the Middle East is a very interesting market for us", says general manager Christopher Dahl of Adapt Control Solutions." An enormous amount of construction and investment in tourism makes it important for us to be present and to showcase our solutions. We strongly believe that several hotels, office towers as well as residential homes in the region will be using our control systems before long.

Looking forward
Adapt presently has 26 offices in a total of 15 countries in Europe and the Middle East. The company has established a distribution centre in Copenhagen for movement of goods within the EU and plans to open further offices in several other European countries over the course of this year. The ambitious growth plans also include a start-up in India and China - and with global representation over the next five years.

Making complicated tasks simple
The control system has a simple, user-friendly interface. The display screen shows status information and use action buttons with easy to understand symbols and text. Most electronic and mechanical installations in a commercial building can be controlled smarter and the solution can contribute to reduced energy consumption. Other examples of functions to be controlled are:

• Lighting, HVAC, and immersion heaters for hot water
• Indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras with internal and external video recording
• Emergency facilities, entry control and security
• Status overview for doors and windows with warnings
• Level status for tanks and containers
• Irrigation controls, fountains and pools
• AV-systems, window blinds and awnings

Profile and time settings
Pre-programmed system profiles make controlling business premises and hotels simpler. The user can program various profiles without assistance from Adapt. The system carries out the tasks in the profile automatically at the desired time. Some examples are:

* Turn off/on or adjust lightning in the selected zones of the building
* Automatic adjustments of temperature and ventilation in the building according to time of day/year
* Flexible control of background music in all or parts of the building

Alternatively, the user can let the system's built-in astronomical clock carry out automatic tasks - or the system can be remotely controlled over the Internet.

Monitor and control energy use
By direct circuit connection, the ABC, can accurately measure the energy consumption of the building. This makes it possible to build a database which can provide information on energy savings to be made, by adjusting settings of e.g. heating, ventilation and lighting. The Adapt system is very flexible and scaleable, and there is no upper limit to how many units and zones that can be monitored and controlled.
