DMi Introduces Flagship Networking AVR Processor and Matching Power Amp (3/7/2008)

CEDIA UK Expo 2008

The new Marantz AV8003 is an 'ultimate AV processor', providing the highest possible video and sonic signal quality, network and streaming media capabilities and multiroom control. The latest advances in HD video and high bit rate audio technologies, includes HDMI 1.3 connectivity and full support for Blu-Ray decoding. Partnering the AV8003, the new MM8003 8-channel power amplifier delivers pure audiophile sonic performance and build quality. Delivering up to 170w per channel, the unit offers an unrivalled power output and compact form advantage.

The THX Ultra2-certified AV8003's extensive technologies and operational features offer the opportunity for the configuration of seriously high-end entertainment systems. It's an extremely powerful AV hub providing processing, switching and networked control of superb full HD video and audio content, including Blu-Ray discs and streaming media. In addition, the AV8003 provides full upconversion of standard video signals to HD specifications. The unit's DNLA compliant network capabilities extend to system integration and communication with connected storage. This includes media files stored on personal media players, PCs and Network Attached Storage (NAS) drives. Multizone control capabilities extend to full video and audio in a second room, and independent audio in a third. All of which adds up to more processing power and control capability than any other pre-amp of its class or price.

Extensive AV connectivity includes support for HD sources and Blu-Ray discs via HDMI 1.3 repeating connectivity, with 36-bit Deep Color and decoding of Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio lossless surround sound formats, as well as up to 7.1 channels of full bandwidth 24-bit/ 96kHz PCM audio. The four in / two out HDMI ports and high quality component video I/Os, enable connection of multiple sources and display devices. Standard definition video signals (including networked media) are fully upscaled and deinterlaced to 1080p to enable switching and transmission via HDMI and provide vastly improved picture quality from SD sources.

Professional audio specifications include a balanced signal stereo input and balanced multichannel outputs on XLR for low noise connection via long cable runs. RS232c support, direct IR inputs and DC triggers are also incorporated, to allow for comprehensive and reliable 2-way system control beyond AV. A fully PC programmable comprehensive remote control, and an addition second room remote control are included. The full-metal Marantz M1 chassis and completely copper-plated casing, along with extensive internal shielding and deployment of discrete power supplies, ensure isolation from interference from vibration and electrical emissions.

The new MM8003 multi-channel power amplifier offers the CI market a new standard in power to compact form ratio. Measuring just 44 x 38 x 18cm (W x D x H), this diminutive power house incorporates Marantz' state-of-the-art current feedback Boxer 8 engine, and audiophile grade components throughout, delivers eight channels of conservatively rated 140w 8 Ohm/ 170w 4 Ohm RMS output. Each pair of amplifiers can be separately controlled for multiroom application flexibility. The eight balanced XLR inputs, gold plated speaker terminals, massive toroidal transformer, full copper chassis and temperature monitored auto cooling system attest to the amplifiers highest possible professional build specifications.
