DMi Introduces CI Upgrade for Flagship Marantz RC9001 Programmable Remote (3/7/2008)

DMi D&M Installation has announced a firmware upgrade for the Marantz RC9001 touch-screen universal remote control handset. The upgrade provides the RC9001 with best in class CI functionality; in particular adding support for a-synchronous RS 232 feedback programming and full 2-way programming for control and feedback of IP controlled devices.

The upgrade to the handset is fully backward compatible with all and is available as an RC9001 already in the marketplace as an FOC download for existing users via the Marantz website.

The Marantz RC9001 is a full colour, touch-screen programmable remote handset that provides ultimate central control of the widest range of AV devices, automated room lighting and environmental control, and security system functionality. The 9.6 cm 640x480 pixel 3.8" full colour TFT display sports an easy to use interface, fully customizable from the handset or via USB PC connectivity and the supplied Windows(tm) programming software (enabling the creation of PCF files and the import of CCF files). The 25kHz to 1MHz bandwidth 2-way IR / Wi-Fi command communication is matched with a generous 64Mb of on-board flash memory to store as many user custom set-ups as could possibly be required.

Direct Access hard buttons are available to perform basic functions: channel up/down, mute, volume up/down buttons are conveniently located at the right side of the TFT. The 4-direction cursor key can both be used for controlling devices by infrared or navigating through the devices and pages on the TFT.

The RC9001 features a built-in pick-up sensor which in low light switches the backlight on automatically, lighting both the screen and hard buttons. To help with daytime operation, the digital contrast adjustment can adjust the TFT-contrast, while each touch screen panel is treated with an excellent anti-glare coating for significantly reduced reflection and optimized readability under different viewing angles.

Marantz RX9001 wired and RX8001 wireless extenders allow control of devices from the handset in the central rack or in different 'zones' while providing full system integration.

The RC9001 firmware upgrade extends the handsets capability to provide control of and feedback from IP controlled devices, for example providing for live video feeds on the handset from IP enabled cameras.

The RC9001 in combination with the two extenders now offers a complete home control solution for CI system control and full 2-way integration.
