Acoustic Energy launches EXTREME 8 outdoor speakers (22/7/2008)

The sun is out and it's time to dance on the decking with Acoustic Energy's biggest, loudest, outdoor hi-fi loudspeaker.

Acoustic Energy has launched its most serious outdoor hi-fi loudspeaker, the EXTREME 8. Capable of producing hi-fidelity audio whatever the weather, the EXTREME 8 is fully water resistant (IP54) and capable of withstanding dust, dirt, humidity, severe temperature changes, Pimms spillages, shaken-can-of-lager incidents, and bread roll fight cross-fire. Geared up to do hi-fi sound at party-sized volume levels, the EXTREME 8 is ideal for creating that festival feeling in your garden.

The two-way sealed enclosure is crafted from reinforced structural polymer, which is highly durable, UV-resistant and has much improved sound over designs using simple plastic enclosures. The sealed-box design, finished in black or white, further enhances its all-weather ability and paintable grilles to allow accurate decor matching to keep the neighbours happy. An innovative mounting bracket makes installation simple and swift.

The new EXTREME 8 uses a 160mm version of AE's signature high-power alloy cone and a 25mm dome tweeter in an enclosure designed to get the best audio balance from wall mounting and open-space surroundings. The voicing has been specifically tuned with accentuation of the presence band to best overcome background noise, wind-roar and traffic sounds. In position, the EXTREME 8 has been designed to offer outstanding image projection, solid bass and high-power handling.

The exclusive use of Neutrik Speakon connectors (supplied) further improves durability and makes the EXTREME range ideal for use both outdoors and in challenging interior environments such as kitchens, bathrooms and pool-and-spa rooms. And, of course, AE's high-efficiency, high power handling design philosophy ensures the EXTREME 8 offers the biggest sound from the widest range of amplifiers.

With no compromise design philosophy throughout, this flagship weatherproof loudspeaker has been specifically voiced for outdoor spaces and near-wall placement by AE's Cirencester-based design team.
