CommandFusion releases iViewer for iPhone and iPod Touch, a fully customisable application for home automation systems (18/8/2008) CommandFusion, an Australian-based company, has announced the release of it's first home automation control application, iViewer for iPhone and iPod Touch. The iViewer application renders a fully customizable user interface, designed using the CommandFusion guiDesigner software for Windows. This allows system integrators to create interfaces that look good enough to eat right of the gorgeous iPhone's 3.5? widescreen. With iViewer, home automation owners can control their lighting, temperature, curtains, AV equipment, security and much more, from anywhere in their house, or anywhere in the world, all on their iPhone or iPod Touch. Full two-way feedback allows not only control of devices, but also reading back system status such as security events, all wirelessly. A web version of the interface working in any Flash(tm)-enabled web browser will also available soon. The iPhone application will be available exclusively from Apple's AppStore free of charge. Simply download the application to your iPhone, have your system programmer integrate the device into your home automation system, and enjoy. Jarrod Bell, Director and Lead Developer of the company, says the application and it's supporting software have been in development for over a year now, and it's really hitting the mark with beta testers. "It's amazing how quickly and easily an effective interface design can be created with our guiDesigner software", Bell says. "The result is a system that owners will love to use, and so will all their friends!" The guiDesigner software is available as a free download. A video demo of the guiDesigner in action can be found online. Bell says the iViewer application uses a simple communication protocol that can easily be adapted for use in any IP-enabled automation systems, such as Crestron, AMX and Control4. "We have even created a simple proof-of-concept Windows application that acts as a server for relaying commands and feedback with Winamp, allowing iViewer to control the full functionality of Winamp without any automation system.", Bell says. "iViewer really opens the doors for iPhone interfacing with IP-enabled hardware and software, without the need to spend time and money developing a purpose-built iPhone application."
