Henley Designs introduces van den Hul's new HDMI Flat cable (21/8/2008) Specialist cable manufacturer, van den Hul's expertise has reached new heights with the launch of its new HDMI Flat high quality HDMI(tm) digital AV interface cable, which is exclusively distributed in the UK by Henley Designs Ltd. This extraordinary cable has been designed and optimised to ensure the lowest loss in the transmission of high-resolution video signals over long distances whilst fully meeting the standards of the latest v1.3 HDMI specification. The VDH HDMI Flat preserves the clear sharp images, accurate colour definition, vivid contrasts and the superb picture and sound detail of today's High-Definition recordings and broadcasts; supporting all display modes/resolutions up to and including 1080p. This cable uses high-density coated Oxygen Free Copper conductors housed in a robust, halogen free, cream coloured Hulliflex outer jacket. It is terminated with high-quality HDMI 'Type A' connectors with heavy gold plated contacts provide solid and reliable connections. The HDMI 1.3 standard calls for a very high digital data throughput of up to 10.2 Gigabits per second, so this cable has been designed with a flat profile which was found to reduce crosstalk between the various signals. This has the added bonus of making the cable installation friendly allowing it to be run through more confined spaces such as behind skirting boards. This van den Hul HDMI Flat cable is primarily targeted at high performance professional applications and permanent install use, but its outstanding qualities will also appeal to all Home Cinema enthusiasts. It is available in lengths from 1 meter to 15metres and the UK suggested retail pricing is around £65.00 for a 1 metre length and £150.00 for a 10 metre length. Technical Note: This cable is fully compliant with the HDMI v1.3 specification for the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI(tm)) which brings increased data bandwidth as well as extended digital sound and colour capabilities. Whereas the 1.0 standard asked for cable-designs to support up to 165 MHz speeds, the new 1.3 standard requires cables to be able to conduct signals up to 340 MHz (an increased bandwidth of 10.2 Gbps). Additionally, HDMI 1.3 supports the new xvYCC colour space (and up to 16-bit per component colour depth) as well as added support for the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio standards. It further adds features to automatically correct audio video synchronization (lip sync).
