Velocity Micro to OEM FUZE Media Systems Software for Consumer Whole-Home Media System (22/8/2008) CEDIA US Expo 2008 Starting at $1995, ‘Velocity Micro FUZEBox’ to Deliver Whole-Home TV, Music, Movies, Photos, and Video FUZE Media Systems, makers of a whole-home media system that has gained traction in the professional installation industry, and Velocity Micro, makers of high-performance PCs, today announced that they have teamed to introduce an entry-level whole-home media system that will be sold at retail to the consumer market. The product, to be called ‘Velocity Micro FUZEBox,’ retails for $1995; available in the 4th quarter through the Velocity Micro website, the companies noted that the product will be available in national retailers for the Christmas season. The Velocity FUZEBox is the most complete whole-home media system available for easy installation in the consumer market. The product will have many of the characteristics historically associated with high-end, professionally installable media servers: whole-home video distribution, photo sharing, music playback, and more on a smaller scale. But, the Velocity FUZEBox will be very easy to install out of the box, solving the simplicity problem for end consumers that has delayed the launch of so many next generation media products. Randy Copeland, CEO for Velocity Micro, said that the Velocity FUZEBox “is designed to revolutionize the way that people experience home entertainment.” He continued, “In the same way that consumers took a while to understand and adopt the DVR, they have paused in selecting a whole-home media platform. We believe that we have the solution—a system that allows users to integrate all of their media options and experience any of them, anywhere throughout the home. We at Velocity are very excited about this product launch.” Bob Silver, VP of Sales & Marketing at FUZE Media Systems, explained that the product is a continuation of his company’s efforts over the past two years to bring high-performing media systems to the mainstream: “FUZE recently launched a more cost-effective whole-home media system called FuzeOne for the professional installation industry, but our relationship with Velocity guarantees the top-performing direct-to-consumer media system available today. The Velocity FUZEBox will enable consumers to store and watch DVD or Blu-Ray movies, listen to their music, view photo slideshows and more—anywhere in their home and at the touch of a button.” The Velocity FUZEBox will ship standard with all necessary hardware and software for a home theater video zone and five audio zones, with the ability to add two additional video zones and Blu-Ray playback as options. The system’s server which includes 750gb of storage will offer a variety of expandable storage options as well The solution will be available early Q4, starting at $1995. The system will be exhibited publicly at booth #1070 at CEDIA alongside FUZE’s professional channel systems. www.fuzeav.com
