Active Thermal Management shows Cool-Stack, Cool-Vent, Dual-Mode Component Cooler and Powered Filter thermal protection products (26/8/2008)

CEDIA US Expo 2008

Cool Answers for Efficient and Safe Installations

Active Thermal Management (ATM), experts in quiet thermal protection solutions, will be showing its exclusive Cool-Stack selection of cooling systems at this year's Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) show in Denver. The Cool-Stack products are expressly designed for cooling and ventilating today's elegant home entertainment electronics and equipment systems.

"This Cool-Stack family offers multiple solutions when consideration is given to the location and ventilation of home theater equipment rooms and enclosures," said Frank Federman, CEO for ATM. "We work closely with designers and builders to help create safe, efficient, and maximized performance installations."

Cool-stack II(tm), a powerful 2 rack-unit-high hot air exhaust system with six 120mm fans and an 18" depth, has the power - and the reach - to pull up to 130 CFM of hot air out of tightly packed racks while generating very low noise levels. With a total of three temperature-controlled speeds, Cool-Stack II is installer-programmable to switch between any two speeds as rack temperature changes. Programming can satisfy the requirements of even the most complex installations as heated air is expelled through the perforated front panel or through ports on the top or rear panels. Tubing and fittings are supplied with each Cool-stack II to channel hot air from its top and rear exhaust ports to nearby closets, attics, utility rooms, etc.

Available now, the Cool-stack II has a suggested retail price of $649.95

A 1-unit high, hot air exhaust system with four (4) 120mm fans and an 18" depth, the Cool-Stack III(tm) has the power, and the reach to pull up to 70 CFM of hot air out of tightly packed racks while generating very low noise levels. Heated air is normally exhausted through the perforated front panel, but exhaust fittings and tubing provided with the unit can also move the hot air safely away if the rack is located in a closet or cabinet.

Cool-Stack III is temperature-controlled, switching from a constant, very low "idle" speed, suitable for removing stand-by heat generated by components, to full speed as rack temperature changes. Internal movable jumpers are set during installation to satisfy the requirements of a particular installation, whether residential or commercial.

Available now, the Cool-Stack III has a suggested retail price of $450.00.

Heat Seeking Solutions

Active Thermal Management (ATM), experts in quiet thermal protection solutions, will be showing its unique selection of cooling systems at this year's Custom Electronic Design & Installation (CEDIA) show in Denver. ATM's silent-running cooling and ventilating systems are designed for effective and safe temperature management when integrated into today's advanced multimedia AV and display applications.

"It is encouraging to see more consideration being given to ventilation issues during the design and planning stages of these beautiful and costly home and business installations," said Frank Federman, CEO for ATM. "We offer a full range of choices of out-of-sight, quiet, cooling solutions for equipment enclosures of almost any type."

Ventilating equipment enclosures poses different challenges for designers and integrators. ATM, its installation experts, and its selection of new and complete ventilating and cooling systems, address these and other issues for technology integrators working with electronic installation and control room design.

The Cool-Vent Family consists of three products, Cool-Vent I, II, and III, each designed to quietly move air through different sized enclosures. A solid wood grill hides the fans that pull or push hot air out of the installation. The primary differences between the three are size and capacity. Cool-Vent I is a single-speed product controlled by a thermal switch which activates at 90 degrees F. Cool-Vent II and III are both controlled through a dual thermal switch assembly that turns on the fans at 90 degrees F and then switches to a higher, but still quiet, speed at 100 degrees F.

The Cool-Vent products are available in more than 26 natural wood species that can later be custom finished to match built-in cabinets, and fine furniture attributes. All of the Cool-Vent products are available now and pricing varies by model.

Versatile and Quiet Thermal Protection in a Configurable, Multi-purpose Component Cooler

Active Thermal Management, experts in quiet, thermal protection solutions, will be showing its new Dual-Mode Component Cooler(tm) in booth #852 at this week's Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) show in Denver. Designed to operate in either of two modes to quietly cool home theater components that have insufficient ventilation, the unit is intended for use on shelves, in bookcases and other semi-enclosed locations.

The Dual-Mode consists of a black powder-coated base, housing two ultra-quiet, high-quality 120 mm fans and a magnetic-base thermal switch assembly. The fans run continuously at an idle speed, suitable for removing the heat produced by always-on components, switching to a higher speed as temperatures rise.

As shipped, the Dual-Mode is placed on top of a hot component, cooling it while forming a shelf on which another heat-sensitive component can be placed. In an alternate configuration, the Dual Mode unit is placed under a hot component, forcing cooling air up through the component. Mode switching is quickly and easily accomplished using only a Philips screwdriver. In either configuration, the Dual-Mode Component Cooler can support over 100 pounds.

Available now, the Dual-Mode Component Cooler has a suggested retail price of $220.00.

Powered Filter Ventilates and Cleans Custom Electronic Installations

Active Thermal Management (ATM), experts in quiet thermal protection solutions, will be showing its new Powered Filter(tm) at this year's Custom Electronic Design & Installation (CEDIA) show in Denver. Consisting of a white painted metal filter housing and a fan panel holding two quiet cross-flow fans, the Powered Filter is ideal for use in home entertainment enclosures and closed-cabinet electronics installations.

"Our Powered Filter uses the revolutionary HAF anti-clogging filter media recently introduced by 3M," said Frank Federman, CEO for ATM. "The new unit works on the principal of electrostatic attraction. The filter media stops filtering when it has attracted or absorbed a certain amount of airborne contaminants, but more than 90% of the air flow continues, thus protecting the equipment from dangerous and damaging overheating."

The Powered Filter moves approximately 40 CFM in free air and operates as an intake device. It is used to force fresh room air into the enclosure being ventilated, while heated air is allowed to escape through exhaust openings located elsewhere. In large installations, it can be used in conjunction with other Active Thermal Management products operating in exhaust mode.

Available now, preliminary suggested retail pricing for the Powered Filter is $350.00

This year's ATM booth #852 will be fully stocked with answers to heat-generated issues for CEDIA's installation experts.
