Crestron Introduces Power over Ethernet Network Solutions (15/9/2008)

CEDIA US Expo 2008

New Crestron Power over Ethernet Devices Unveiled at CEDIA; Including Wall Mount Wireless Access Point and MJPG Encoder

Crestron is introducing a series of network, Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) solutions, including the CEN-NVS100 MJPG encoder and the CEN-WAP-ABG-1G wireless access point, at CEDIA booth #301/SR-1. The wireless access point enables WiFi communication for Crestron touchpanels, control systems, computers and other devices from any location in the home. The MJPG encoder converts full motion video to streaming media to view on the Crestron TPMC-8X WiFi touchpanel.

The CEN-WAP supports the full range of 802.11x and is powered over Ethernet so a LAN gateway can be installed anywhere - even if there isn't an electrical outlet nearby. Installation is clean and simple; the CEN-WAP mounts in a standard 1-gang wall box and a separate wall wart power supply is not required. Its textured white finish matches perfectly with popular off-the-shelf Decora(r) style faceplates.

Connecting wireless devices to the home control network is quick and easy without any configuration. Each unit ships with a unique network name and key. Simply enter the information in the touchpanel upon set-up and the connection in instantaneous. Network devices connected to the CEN-WAP are totally secure. The CEN-WAP-ABG-1G supports up to 152-bit WEP encryption as well as the more advanced WPA and WPA2 authentication and encryption methods for a safe, secure wireless network in the home.

The NVS100, another product in the new Crestron line of PoE devices, is an MJPG encoder that converts high-resolution video to streaming media. The NVS100 accepts full motion video up to D1 resolution and encodes the signals as either MJPG or MJPG4, and supports simultaneous video streams. The NVS-100 is ideal to view video on the Crestron TPMC-8X WiFi touchpanel, which can display streaming media in a scalable video window on the touchscreen. NVS100 also enables control of Pelco D and other popular PTZ cameras from Crestron touchpanels such as the TPMC-8X. NVS100 controls the camera via RS-485 and communicates with the control system over Ethernet.
