projectiondesign debuts avielo home-theater projectors in North America (16/9/2008)

CEDIA US Expo 2008

Fresh from Europe, the avielo range of HD video projectors from projectiondesign will make its North American debut at this year's CEDIA Expo in Denver, CO, USA.

Designed from the ground up to offer the best in home-theater projection, the avielo range utilizes Texas Instruments' DLP(r) technology for the ultimate in image quality and resolution.

The avielo range comprises five projectors, three of which are already shipping: the entry-level, 720p prisma, suitable for screen sizes up to 100 inches diagonal; the 1080p spectra for screen sizes up to 120 inches; and the 1080p optix, which promises the ultimate in performance from a single-chip DLP design, offers a choice of six lens options, and is suitable for screens up to 180 inches diagonal.

Rounding out the range are the radiance, which is based on the spectra but offers a higher power output, making it suitable for screen sizes up to 135 inches, and the range-topping helios, a three-chip DLP design suitable for screens up to 300 inches diagonal.

Anders Løkke, International Marketing & Communications Manager, expects the avielo range to receive yet another warm welcome in Denver. "All models in the line-up are based on the philosophy of providing the best possible image quality and user experience at their respective price levels," he says.

"Just as importantly, for those rooms where it is physically or economically prohibitive to conceal the projector, they have a visual style that will complement any interior design theme."

All avielo models feature projectiondesign's exclusive RealColor color management suite, 10-bit video processing, and proprietary designed custom optics. Every projector is uniquely characterized and calibrated for color and image quality at the company's factory in Fredrikstad, Norway, while the spectra, radiance, optix and helios models offer the option of hand-selected 'signature series' lenses for the best possible quality. The optix and helios boast patented 'DuArch' illumination architecture, ensuring that their performance is unaffected, even in the event of lamp failure.

"Our goal with the avielo range is simple," Løkke concludes. "We wanted to put all the technological know-how from our experience with commercial projection and the movie theater industry into a range that was tailored to the needs of homeowners.

"Winter nights in Norway can be long, dark, and cold, and most of us at projectiondesign would rather be watching a movie than anything else. You can see that passion and commitment in avielo, and we believe that, once they have seen the immersive image quality of these projectors, the audience at CEDIA will quickly catch that same bug."
