NuVo Technologies previews Renovia power line-based multiroom audio system (29/9/2008)

CEDIA US Expo 2008

NuVo Technologies, an innovator in the engineering, manufacture and design of multi-room audio systems, will preview its upcoming Renovia multi-room audio technology at CEDIA EXPO 2008 in booth #240. Renovia will provide NuVo dealers with an outstanding opportunity to build robust business far beyond the new construction market, where multi-room audio sales traditionally are generated, by enabling them to deliver a reliable and profitable multi-room audio system based on Power Line Communications (PLC) technology to the largely untapped retrofit market.

"NuVo's vision is that every household can and should have a quality multi-room audio system, no matter if the home is a new build or a retrofit," said David Rodarte, president and chief operating officer of NuVo Technologies. "The upcoming addition of Renovia to the NuVo suite of multi-room audio products will make that vision a reality-and will dramatically expand the new business opportunities of our dealers."

Due to the challenges of installing multi-room audio in existing homes, many dealers limit their multi-room audio pitching to new builds only, where they have easy access to open walls. Renovia will provide installers with a much less invasive, much easier-to-install multi-room audio system for existing homes than has ever existed. Unlike traditional multi-room audio systems, Renovia will not require home-run Cat5 wiring because it will utilize the home's existing electrical system to transmit audio and metadata. As a result, the costly, messy and usually unprofitable task of patching holes in drywall will disappear, and customers will have more money left over to spend on additional equipment and services.

The Renovia system will not be an extension of NuVo's current Grand Concerto and Essentia E6G systems, but a standalone system entirely of its own that is being built from the ground up. While NuVo will not announce any specific products or specifications at the show, it will unveil prototypes of Renovia's basic system architecture and components.

Renovia's design, engineering and development have been and continue to be greatly enhanced by input and feedback from a trusted NuVo Dealer Advisory Board. The Board has worked closely with NuVo engineers from the inception of Renovia's development to ensure that NuVo will offer a reliable, user-friendly and installer-friendly system that delivers the quality and reliability that NuVo dealers expect. After CEDIA EXPO, Renovia will enter a rigorous field testing phase to ensure that the final product will be one that dealers and installers can confidently stand behind. Renovia will undergo more testing than any NuVo product has ever endured.

NuVo believes the custom installation industry must increase and sharpen its focus on the retrofit market. It is previewing Renovia technology here in an effort to educate and initiate discussion with its new, existing and prospective dealers about the opportunities that exist and the technology required for the retrofit market, and to describe where the upcoming Renovia system will fit into their changing business models. CEDIA EXPO will also mark a launching point for dealers to get the education and tools they need to begin installing systems when Renovia becomes available.

"We want to be transparent with our new, existing and potential dealers about what we're doing and where we're headed as a supplier, as a product category, and as an industry," said Rodarte. "By beginning the process of educating Electronic Systems Contractors now about the retrofit proposition, they will be ready to hit the ground running when Renovia becomes available next year. With our unveiling of the Renovia concept now, we will begin the process of exploring the retrofit opportunity together, from a fresh and exciting new perspective."
