StreamNet Technology Keeps Audio Signal Digital from Source to Speaker for Unsurpassed Audio Quality

NetStreams™, the global leader in networked A/V systems based on Internet Protocol (IP) standards, has expanded its line of IP-Based in-wall room controller / amplifiers by introducing the SpeakerLinX™ SL254, here today at the CEDIA Expo, the world's largest exposition devoted to whole house entertainment and control systems. Incorporating NetStreams’ Patent Pending StreamNet™ technology for end-to-end plug-n-play connectivity, the SL254 offers customers the highest quality digital audio reproduction. The SpeakerLinX SL254 will be available for demonstration at booth number 930 in the main exhibit hall.

StreamNet Connected speakers provide unsurpassed audio performance, delivering a digital signal all the way to the speaker coil. Keeping the signal in the digital domain allows speaker designers greater flexibility and control, ultimately delivering audio with greater dynamic range and sound pressure level (SPL). In the past StreamNet Connected speakers have been priced at a significant premium, putting them beyond the budget of many installations.

In creating the SL254, NetStreams partnered with leading speaker manufacturers to create StreamNet Ready speakers. The combination of the SL254 and StreamNet Ready speakers provides many of the benefits of traditional StreamNet Connected speakers at a minimal price premium, putting the solution within the reach of all DigiLinX™ customers.

The DigiLinX IP-Based Multi-Room Audio/Video and Control solution marks a fundamental change in the way audio/video is distributed and controlled in a multi-room system. DigiLinX is comprised of IP-Based products, which distribute uncompressed A/V content, and control signals to multiple rooms over an Ethernet network using TCP/IP protocol.

With footprint just slightly larger than a deck of cards, the SL254 can be mounted near or immediately adjacent to virtually any in-wall speaker. This minimizes power and damping losses, while yielding impressive clarity and definition typically heard in expensive audiophile systems.

The SL254 has an integrated high performance DSP which processes the digital signal based on filter and crossover definitions provided by speaker designers. These profiles are speaker model specific and can be updated via firmware to improve performance over time.

The SL254’s dimensions 3.625" x 2.875" x 1.75" (91mm x 72mm x 44mm) (W x H x D) is standard for the SpeakerLinX line, so installers can use the same mounting accessories in an installation. The SpeakerLinX offers mounting accessories for most installation situations, including a surface mounting plate (for mounting a SpeakerLinX on a truss or a beam), in-wall mounting kit (both models can fit in a 2-gang backless box), or universal rack mount plate where mounting the amplifiers in a rack is necessary.
