Knoll Systems Adds New Green Multi Channel Amplifiers (21/11/2008)

CEDIA US Expo 2008

New technology from Knoll saves electricity and delivers power with the GS8 and GS12

Knoll Systems has been concerned with the environment and what legislation worldwide will do to compel the electronics industry to do their part. Knoll being driven by strong engineering has developed a new circuitry to shut the amplifier or channels within the amplifier to save power with no turn-on artifacts.

Based on the award winning product of the year (Electronic House Magazine 2008) the GSZ 67 keypad system is a 12-channel class A/B amplifier that produces 50 watts per channel at 8 ohms and 70 watts per channel at 4 ohms. While offering unparalleled reliability, power and sound quality the GS12 offers a Knoll exclusive, the Eco-System(tm) circuit. This patent pending circuit determines which of the 12 stereo channels (4 pairs) are in use and delivers power only to those channels needing it. The channels that are "off" are truly off, not in "standby" or "mute". With this circuit the active channels share more rail voltage resulting in more reserve power for the stereo channels in use.

The most important feature of the Eco-System(tm) circuit is the electrical savings that the owner gets over what a comparable class A/B amplifier would cost to operate. The typical home owner will enjoy a savings of hundred dollars or more per year in actual electrical costs and that can be multiplied when taking into account the increased costs of air conditioning to extract unwanted heat produced by a typical multi-channel amplifier. The GS8 also features a very quiet energy saving thermostatically controlled fan. A comparable amplifier without the Eco-System(tm) circuit uses about 14 times (40 watts) as much power while idling in standby. By comparison the GS12 with Eco-System(tm) uses under 4 watts while idling!

For nearly 10 years Knoll multi-channel amplifiers have sold around the world because of their legendary reliability and unparalleled sound quality. The GS12 takes the next logical step by being eco-friendly. Please consider the environment and your electric bill when choosing your next amplifier for your system.

Important specifications: Inputs - Gold RCA jacks with adjustable gain Input impedance - 50k ohms Outputs - 5 way gold binding posts Output power- 50 watts RMS per channel (8 ohms)

Pricing & Availability:

Designed for the future delivering now, the GS12 and its 8-channel sibling the GS8 are available immediately for a suggested retail price of $1238.00 and 1178.00 respectively (US) through Knoll Systems distribution and Knoll authorized resellers.
