Smart-e showcases SmartMIX analogue and HDMI matrix with IP control (4/12/2008)

Stand 1L91, Integrated Systems Europe 2009

A new multi-format AV solution that receives and transmits a mix of analogue and HDMI signals, combines local and remote connections, and can be IP controlled, will be launched at ISE 2009 by leading AV design and manufacturing company Smart-e Limited.

The first of its kind, the SmartMIX solution can combine the switching and distribution of both analogue (RGBHV) and HDMI signals within the same unit. Using suitable converters a HDMI source can be connected to the input of the matrix via CAT 5* cable. Correspondingly, HDMI displays can connect to the output of the matrix via CAT 5* to HDMI converters.

Analogue (RGBHV) sources can be connected to the matrix either locally through standard HD15s or through a CAT 5* connection using a suitable converter. The matrix allows both the analogue and HDMI switching via the CAT 5* connections. HDMI sources can be selected to any of the HDMI displays whilst the analogue signals can be selected to any RGBHV display and the HDMI screens.

Selection of the AV source is via individual infra-red control through standard handsets or via a RS232 and IP port. New to the Smart-e matrix family the SmartMIX incorporates an internal IP control facility allowing the solution to be integrated into a control system. Both the IP control and RS232 serial connections incorporate a new simple protocol making integration even easier.

The SmartMIX is capable of handling 16 source devices (8 local and 8 remote) and transmitting up to 8 displays over 200m of CAT 5/5e/6/7/8 structured cabling. It is easily upgradable, through networking several matrices together, giving the potential for providing infinite signals to displays. The solution transmits HD compatible signals (1080p + resolutions) digital/analogue audio, and features RS232/IR and inline power,

Pre-product-release market tests have indicated that the solution will take the market by storm due to its unique combination of features, providing a flexible, scalable and inexpensive solution that is easy to install and use.

* CAT 5 refers to CAT 5/5e/6/7 and 8 structured cabling
