Crestron and Barix Introduce the Annuncicom 100-CS Audio over IP Intercom Solution (9/12/2008) Crestron, the market leading manufacturer of advanced control and automation solutions has announced the addition of Barix AG, a pioneer in IP-based audio, intercom, control, and monitoring, to its Integrated Partner Program, in a collaboration which brings together digital IP intercom solutions with control systems and Isys i/O(tm)WiFi Touchpanels. The Annuncicom 100-CS is a custom audio over IP intercom solution developed between the two companies for easy integration into residential control applications. The Barix Annuncicom 100-CS enables streaming IP intercom communication between Crestron Isys i/O(tm) WiFi touchpanels and other Crestron touchpanels that feature analog audio I/O capability, and also provides seamless integration with Crestron IADS analog intercom systems. The Barix Annuncicom 100-CS becomes a virtual intercom bridge between IP and Analog resources. Barix Audio over IP technology also enables integration of new digital IP intercom solutions with existing IADS analog intercom systems, providing a flexible, cost-effective digital upgrade path. Connect one or more Barix Annuncicoms to a C2N-IADS30x24 to enable seamless intercom communication between a digital Crestron touchpanel and an analog Isys(r) touchpanel. Special firmware allows direct communications with Crestron control systems for analog audio and digital IP intercom applications. An additional feature being made available simultaneously with the release of this special firmware is point-to-point distribution of full-duplex audio between TPMC-8X, TPMC-8T and TPMC-8L touchpanels (no Barix appliance required). "The development of this new firmware allows Barix and Crestron to build a cohesive product for Crestron dealers as they address challenges for residential customers," said Robin van Meeuwen, Managing Director, Crestron UK. "The solution provides tremendous value for Crestron dealers by bridging existing analog touchpanel and distribution products with new digital IP touchpanels, and providing greater flexibility and ease of use for end users in the home."
