Sharp announces UK availability for BD-HP21H Blu-ray disc player (10/12/2008) The new Sharp BD-HP21H - The perfect partner for a blockbuster evening Sharp today announces that its new Blu-ray disc player is now available in the UK. So, to make the most of the latest Hollywood smash hit, look no further than the new BD-HP21H. Whereas many Blu-ray players on the market cannot realise the full potential of Blu-ray discs, Sharp's new BD-HP21H can produce vivid, detailed and vibrant colour. Able to complement the 1080p video signal and a 24-hertz frame rate, any on-screen motion is rendered as smoothly and naturally as at the cinema. In addition to this, the BD-HP21H has the ability to upscale DVDs resulting in superior picture quality compared to conventional DVD players, whilst also having the functionality to playback JPEG from CDs. Designed with BD 1.1 profile/ Bonusview functionality, the BD-HP21H offers viewers the opportunity to take advantage of picture-in-picture and simultaneous play functions to provide a more interactive viewing experience. Also included is the 1.3 version of HDMI, which lets the viewer enjoy a wider spectrum of colours for still picture images and audio compatibility with the latest High-Definition formats including Dolby True HD and DTS. Grace Liang, product manager for Blu-ray at Sharp UK comments; "As one of the founding members of the Blu-ray Disc Association, we are delighted to announce the arrival of the new BD-HP21H in time for Christmas. By backing Blu-ray technology from the beginning, we believe we have been able to produce the best Blu-ray player on the market." The BD-HP21H has a Quick-start mode designed to reduce power consumption as it only takes approximately 10 seconds in standby mode, and a Jpeg playback feature so pictures can be viewed in High-Definition quality. Developed in Sharp's signature black finish and slim profile, and fitted with an AQUOS LINK, allowing users to operate BD-HP21H and Sharp LCD TVs with one remote, the BD-HP21H is one of the top Blu-ray players on the market. Staying true to Sharp's green ethos, the BD-HP21H is also one of the most environmentally friendly Blu-ray players around. With its low energy consumption of only 26 watts when in use and only 0.5 watts in standby mode, the viewer won't be counting the cost of wasted energy. Pricing and availability The BD-HP21H is available now from all selected retailers and is priced at approximately £249.00.
