Gefen Shows New Wireless HDMI Extension Solutions (27/1/2009)

Connectivity solutions provider Gefen is pleased to announce that three wireless extension solutions will be available for demonstration at IS Europe. Each system allows home entertainment system installers to place high definition displays in hard to reach locations, such as on the ceiling, outdoors, and over the fireplace, to name a few.

Wireless for HDMI UWB Extender

Uses TZero Technologies ultra wideband to deliver hi-def resolutions to 1080p (30fps) with 7.1 digital audio surround sound and two- channel L/R analog audio up to 10 meters in distance. HD sources such as Blu-Ray DVD players, set top boxes or DVRs connect to the two HDMI inputs and one component video input with left/right audio. All three sources deliver video in the HDMI v1.2 format with compatibility for HDMI v1.3 sources and displays. With three A/V inputs, the Gefen Wireless for HDMI UWB Extender operates as an auto switch, allowing access to any of the three sources using the same HDTV or projector. Sources can also be controlled from the display using the IR back channel or by the local selection button available on the sender unit. With CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) support, WiMedia Alliance compliance, HDMI Forum compliance, DCP certification, and FCC certification, the Gefen Wireless for HDMI Extender is a high performance solution perfect for eliminating wiring in small venue and single room HDTV applications.

GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 5Ghz Extender

Using Amimon's 5Ghz wireless HDTV technology, the GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 5Ghz Extender is capable of delivering high definition video up to 1080p/30 supporting 5.1 digital audio and analog two-channel L/ R audio up to 30-meters in distance. This makes it ideally suited for most homes and small venue applications. It uses small sender and receiver units connected at the source and the display locations by an HDMI cable. The sender connects HD devices such as Blu-ray DVDs, gaming consuls and set-top boxes to an HDTV display with no cables required to deliver video and audio. Uncompressed high definition transmission ensures crisp, vivid resolutions on the receiving end, while HDCP compliance, and HDMI v1.3 forward compatibility ensures it will work with all protected content and HDMI formats flawlessly.

GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60Ghz Extender

This sender/receiver system relies on leading edge WirelessHD technology from SiBEAM to deliver HDMI at 1080p full HD, sending uncompressed video from a source to the display wirelessly. This eliminates messy wiring, and offers a cutting-edge and reliable method of high bandwidth HDMI signal delivery. The GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60Ghz Extender is able to extend high definition video with audio in the HDMI format up to 10 meters. Uncompressed video is delivered from the source to the display with no cables required. Audio in digital S/PDIF format is also available to connect an AV receiver in addition to the HDTV display. The wireless link between the source and the display supports 1080p full HD with multi-channel audio, and is proving to be just as reliable as wired solutions.
