LG launches BD370 blu-ray player with video on demand by YouTube and BD Live (29/1/2009)

LG BD370 Blu-ray player provides advanced interactivity plus high quality picture and sound

LG Electronics, a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, today launches the LG BD370 - the first Blu-ray player to feature video on demand powered by YouTube combined with BD Live (BD-ROM Profile 2.0) - giving consumers direct internet access to supplementary content via their Blu-ray disks.

Video on demand, powered by YouTube, brings this medium to the heart of the living room. Consumers are given an all-access pass to the most popular online videos to enjoy on the sofa with friends and family. With simple and easy navigation, LG gives consumers the power to choose entertainment that is not just confined to Blu-ray and DVD.

BD Live is a new technology that brings the hidden story behind your favourite movie direct to your living room by enabling access to interactive online features such as live chat and multi-player games to Blu-ray movies. The player is also a complete delight for DVD fans as it can upscale standard definition DVDs to near high definition quality.

Daniel Aziz, marketing manager, LG Electronics digital media says, "LG brings the ultimate cinematic experience to life with its range of high quality Blu-ray players. With faster load times, and networked capabilities that allow full access to content from the likes of YouTube, LG creates the art of perfect home entertainment."

Encased in a slim and classic design, the player features enhanced picture and sound quality, with 1080p Full HD resolution via HDMI connection. Dolby True HD and DTS-HD are also incorporated for high bit-rate audio functionality to offer amazing sound which is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master - unlocking a truly high-definition entertainment experience from next-generation discs.

Additionally, LG's SIMPLINK connectivity allows users to operate all functions with a single remote control, while a USB memory stick can be connected via the USB port for expanded memory capacity. The unit is compatible with MPEG4 video, JPEG, MP3, and WMA file formats.

The BD370 will be available in the UK from April 2009.
