Beamax announces M-Tensioned in-ceiling projection screens with a built-in tensioning system (2/3/2009)

Beamax flagship M-Tensioned In-Ceiling projection screens set new standards for design, image quality and ease of installation

Beamax, a European specialist creator of home cinema projection screens, announces a new range of tensioned, motorised screens in-ceiling screens. The new range combines sharp design with high-end image quality and ease of installation.

The M-Tensioned In-Ceiling projection screen features a built-in tensioning system that ensures a flat and taut projection surface, free of any wrinkles or creases that might distort the picture. Unlike fixed screen alternatives, the M-tensioned screens retracts into a casing concealed in the ceiling when not in use, freeing up the customer's living or work space - and with no compromises on quality.

Beamax founder and managing director Otto Tromm explains that the company's new flagship matches quality with convenience:

"A premium quality projection screen lets you get the most out of your projector - but that doesn't mean you want to see the screen all the time. Installing an M-Tensioned In-Ceiling screen gives you the best of both worlds; a top quality screen that is visible only when you need it."

While every M-Tensioned In-Ceiling screen is built to order, and can be made to suit any room, the new Beamax screen range is priced to expand the market for this high-end technology. Customers can specify the size, aspect ratio, drop length, screen fabric and even control technology, creating a truly custom solution for each installation.

Screens can be ordered with a viewable width of up to 3.65 metres, equivalent to a 165-inch diagonal in 16:9 format. The M-Tensioned In-Ceiling screen can be ordered in standard 4:3, widescreen 16:9 or 1:2.35 super widescreen formats. A black top border of up to 1 metre ensures that the screen can be perfectly positioned for comfortable viewing, even in a room with a high ceiling.

The choice of screen fabrics available for the M-Tensioned In-Ceiling screen includes a standard matte white surface, a grey high-contrast fabric, ideal for use with DLP projectors, and an acoustically transparent, micro-perforated option.

Installation requires just 135mm of ceiling space for the casing. An M-Tensioned In-Ceiling screen can be fitted alongside a floor joist in a typical modern home. A false ceiling is rarely necessary. The M-Tensioned In-Ceiling incorporates a cover plate for the ceiling aperture. Customers can specify an optional finish, colour-matched to their ceiling.

Further assistance is provided to the installer with the screen's electrics including a standard switch or the option of infra-red or radio frequency remote controls, or a 12V trigger. Integration with control systems is also available.

Unusually, for a screen range so competitively priced, Beamax backs the M-Tensioned In-Ceiling projection screens with an industry-leading peace-of-mind warranty. Beamax provides a free replacement screen, delivery and up to 4 hours of re-installation costs in the rare eventuality that something goes wrong with the product.

The M-Tensioned In-Ceiling projection screen range is available now from Beamax resellers and costs from €1285 ex VAT (£1155 ex VAT).
