Symmetry introduces the THIEL SmartSub sub-woofers to the UK market (8/5/2009) Introduced to the UK by the leading specialist audio distributor Symmetry, the new THIEL SmartSub products are the most technologically advanced bass loudspeaker systems ever developed for seamless sonic integration in home audio sound systems. THIEL's SmartSub technology eliminates the major problems and limitations that often prevent a smooth match between conventional subwoofers; the system's main speakers; and the room. These are the world's first intelligent subwoofers. The range starts with the smallest and most affordable model, the SS1, which mounts a 500 watt amplifier and a long throw 10inch woofer in a compact cabinet to produce an awe-inspiring output of up to 99dB at 20 Hz and up to 106 dB at 30 Hz; all the way up to the massive model SS4 with its two long-throw 15inch woofers and a 1000 watt amplifier for those who desire extraordinary amounts of bass output for their home cinema or music systems. "The new THIEL SmartSub(r) products are the most technologically advanced bass systems ever developed for the seamless sonic integration of audio systems," says Symmetry's Nigel Crump. "This new technology totally eliminates the major problems and limitations that conventional subwoofers have in delivering the low frequencies in a convincing manner." These intelligent subwoofers can be used with either the companion Electronic Integrator box, or with passive Subwoofer Crossovers (with a choice of two-channel or five-channel passive crossover systems). The sophisticated SmartSub(r) Integrator can be adjusted to automatically match the subwoofers the main speakers, regardless of brand or type, for the most accurate and seamless sonic integration. The subwoofer can also be easily adjusted to accurately eliminate room interaction problems for any placement, without having to use microphones or make any complicated measurements. These sub-woofers incorporates several innovative design features that provide exceptionally deep, uniform, dynamic and low distortion bass down to very low frequencies. In particular the drive units are quite exceptional with THIEL's innovative short coil/long gap motor systems achieving extremely low distortion, and with the drivers' aluminium diaphragms contributing to the subwoofers' outstanding tonal response. The unusually large magnet structures and special high excursion suspensions allow the subwoofers to move a very large amount of air for effortless, realistic reproduction of the most demanding sources. THIEL's wide choice of cabinet finishes is an interior designer's dream. Hand-selected wood veneers are beautifully finished to enhance any home décor with a standard range of twelve veneers plus a painted satin black finish. Furthermore the company can, to special order, manufacture these cabinets in almost any desired finish. Prices start at around £2395.00 for the model SS1.
