DMi Introduces Redesigned Boston Acoustics CI Range (13/5/2009)

DMi D&M Installation (Europe) has introduced a complete redesign of its market leading Boston Acoustics' range of CI in-wall and in-ceiling speakers.

The redesigned VSi and HSi series, debuted at ISE 09, introduces numerous design innovations, improved audio performance, versatility and ease of installation. An increased number of models includes more 3-way designs, ultra-compact 'lighting can' style designs, and humidity resistant models for outdoor and wet environments.

The new series comprise more than 25 new in-wall and in-ceiling designs. Design innovations include a dramatic 70 per cent reduction in the visible bezel, providing for improved flush to surface mounting. Magnetically attaching grilles greatly improve ease of installation and servicing.

New in-wall VSi designs feature 1 inch aluminum VR? tweeters and advanced 5 1/4, 6 and 8 inch DCD(tm) cast basket woofers in 2-way configurations, and in 3-way configurations with a 3 1/2 inch midrange driver, for improved music power and fidelity. The VSi 5835 3-way model features an innovative 90 degree rotatable midrange/tweeter plate, to facilitate horizontal or vertical installation and optimum sonic dispersion. In addition the new line up includes the VSi 8W2 in-wall sub woofer with dual 8 inch DCD Copolymer Woofers. New in-ceiling designs include 5 1/4, 6, 6 1/2 and 8 inch woofer models, with pivoting 1 inch aluminium VR tweeters in-cast aluminium cups; these feature a cast aluminium bezel and floating tweeter island for wide dispersion, as well as a dedicated boundary compensation switch. The powerful 3-way VSi 5830 features the proprietary rotating midrange /tweeter plate, for adjustable dispersion characteristics.

The redesigned HSi series similarly offers installers a host of new innovations, but at even more affordable price points. The series offers various 2-way models with mylar tweeters and laminate film woofers, or 1 inch Kortec tweeters and copolymer woofers, and a 3-way design with rotating midrange/tweeter plate. The new HSi in-ceiling range includes the HSi H460T2 high humidity, weather resistant model, a 2-way design ideal for outdoor use, or in bathrooms, sauna or swimming pool areas.

Two unique new miniature in-ceiling models - the HSi 430 and HSi 435 - are designed to resemble small lighting can fixtures, and feature a round and square bezel form respectively. Both models are 2-way configurations, with 3 1/2 inch woofers and 3/4 inch tweeters, and both feature the new reduced visible bezel and magnetic grilles. With remarkable sound quality and dispersion, these offer even further opportunities for installers to provide discrete installations. The matching HSi S6W2 dual 6 inch subwoofer is a bandpass design which also physically matches small lighting fixtures; sound is outputted via dual bass tubes, connected to frames the same size as the HSi 430 and HSi 435.
