Loewe presents second generation Connect TV with 100Hz technology, Internet radio and new Mediaplayer (20/5/2009)

In 2008 the Loewe Connect line of televisions, capable of connecting a wide range of media devices for the ultimate in the home networking, ushered in a new era in digital entertainment. Since its launch, the Connect TV has won several awards, including recently the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in gold. It has also been praised by the press as the 'most versatile television in the world' - to quote but one accolade. Barely a year after first launching the Loewe Connect, Loewe is now presenting the second generation in this series.

The new Connect

Apart from the award-winning design, almost everything has been changed in the new Connect. Thanks to its 100-hertz technology, it displays HDTV images with even greater brilliance. In addition, due to the use of a new chassis the new Connect features lower stand-by power consumption and can also be operated in eco mode. It therefore even surpasses its predecessor in terms of environmental-friendliness, for which the latter received the Focus Green Award. The Loewe Connect 37 and 42 with Mediaplayer now also feature three HDMI ports and are thus able to offer even greater multi-functionality. In addition, all Connect sets from 32" upwards are supplied with the latest generation of the Network Mediaplayer which offers Internet reception of more than 8,000 different radio stations from all over the world, without the need for a PC. In the DR+ version, the new Connect with Mediaplayer is also available with an integrated hard disk with an enlarged storage capacity of 250 GB, thus ensuring problem-free recording. Last but not least, the new Connect Media is now supplied on an exclusive, chrome-finished table stand.

Fit for the digital future

Perfect for tech-savvy consumers who want to streamline their use of multimedia devices, the Loewe Connect has an easily-accessible USB interface for conveniently connecting USB memory sticks, multi-card readers, external hard drives or digital cameras. An integrated PhotoViewer enables users to present digital JPEG photos as a slide show - in full HDTV splendour, of course, with up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. Alternatively, or simultaneously, music can be played from a USB storage medium with first-class, full-bodied sound.

Alongside various connections for camcorders, DVD players and games consoles, the Loewe Connect also features a VGA port for PCs, making it possible to show PowerPoint presentations, for example, in large format. PCs with a DVI-out port, games consoles with HDTV resolution or HD-DVD and Blu-ray players can be connected to one of up to three HDMI-in ports on the set. A module slot with a standard interface (CI) allows straightforward playback of encrypted Pay-TV channels without the need for the customary additional set-top box. And, last of all, a satellite receiver can be retrofitted.

The Connect with Mediaplayer can not only be integrated into a network via cable connection or Powerline, but also has a WLAN module to make network installation as simple as possible. For convenient, interactive operation, Loewe has integrated the Network Mediaplayer, which provides access to centrally stored digital photos and music, as well as video clips and Internet radio. Thanks to the many technical refinements, navigating and searching are effortlessly simple and convenient allowing you to browse your own digital media collection at ease - regardless of whether the data are stored on a PC or a Mac.

In addition, with the new Mediaplayer, choosing among the countless radio stations available via the Internet is now just as easy. It isn't necessary to have a PC or laptop to do this - just the Assist remote control. Personalised favourites lists can also be created on the Internet, which then appear automatically on the TV.

Finally, the new Network Mediaplayer is unrivalled as a future-proof system. As soon as a new software version is available, it can be downloaded from the Internet at the touch of a button on the remote control and automatically installed. Time-consuming updates at the retail outlet are therefore a thing of the past.

Design

The new Loewe Connect is available in three housing colours and three sizes: a 37-inch screen diagonal and a 42-inch diagonal for that cinema atmosphere in the living room, or a compact version with a 32-inch screen diagonal for smaller living rooms and apartments. The flat-screen televisions come in fashionable High Gloss White, elegant Silver and timelessly stylish High Gloss Black. The best thing about the Connect design, created by Design 3, is that the minimalist frame creates a sleek three-dimensional look regardless of the size, allowing the brilliance of the picture to come to the fore unchallenged. The relation of the speakers to the screen and the convex-shaped side panels round off the appearance. The Loewe Connect is not only a new technical focal point for digital content; it is also an exclusive piece of designer furniture with perfect workmanship and individual set-up options which provide the finishing touch to the set's modern character.

The new Loewe Connect and other products from Loewe's range of first-class LCD televisions and peripherals are available from Loewe's network of partners across the country, as well as dedicated Loewe Galerie stores in London and Glasgow and concessions in Harrods and Sefridges.
