iZ Connected "Connected Living" initiative develops cross-industry solutions for future-proof networking (24/9/2009) Orga Systems founding member of initiative “Connected Living” The initiative Connected Living, recently founded in Berlin, Germany, claims to develop and establish cross-industry solutions and interoperability standards for future-proof networking among electrical equipment in the home. Relevant areas are consumer electronics, telecommunication, IT equipment, building service engineering and white goods. Interdisciplinary co-operation is key Prof. Dr. Sahin Albayrak, Scientific Director of DAI-Labor at the Technische Universität Berlin and Executive Chairman of Connected Living: “The scientific, technical and economic challenges for the installation of a smart home network cannot be tackled by one industry sector on its own. The formation of the initiative Connected Living is the first of its kind able to operate in the area of smart home networking in an interdisciplinary manner.” Convergent real-time billing essential for transparency Orga Systems, leading provider of scalable convergent real-time billing products, is founding member of Connected Living. Technical feasibility of smart home networking has been shown in various recent projects. But now it is necessary to convince end users and service providers of the benefits of smart home networking and come up with clear interaction concepts. Orga Systems will bring in its knowhow in the area of convergent billing in real-time in order to provide all users transparency concerning the service usage and related charges in the connected home. www.izconnected.de
