Cytech announces Comfort UCM/KNX 2nd generation KNX interface for the Comfort Intelligent Home System (24/9/2009) The Comfort Intelligent Home System now has a new, much more closely integrated interface with KNX – the worldwide standard for home and building control – the Comfort UCM/KNX from Cytech Europe. The new UCM/KNX allows KNX integrators to interface with Comfort without having to programme Responses thus not requiring an in-depth knowledge of Comfort. The UCM/KNX interface allows the alarm system to be fully visible on KNX; the status of alarms and which doors, windows or motion sensors are activated, and whether the security system is set or unset are mapped to assigned group addresses. It allows KNX switches and input devices to send commands to Comfort to bypass zones, or to control outputs or other devices. A KNX touchscreen can be used to set and unset the security system by entering the user code, just like a physical keypad. Pronto control of KNX through Comfort is also available. Instead of mapping group addresses to Counters by shunts, there will be software configuration which is part of Comfigurator 3 to map Group addresses to Comfort. This makes it easy to program Comfort to interface with KNX, without requiring a lot of knowledge of Comfort. L Y Chiu, Director and founder of Cytech Technology, comments “Our new UCM/KNX should make Comfort an even more powerful proposition for KNX partners.” This introduction coincides with Cytech joining the worldwide KNX Association that now lists them as members on their official web site www.knx.org. This now brings the multi-function Comfort Intelligent Home System into contact with 170 members in 29 countries plus links from www.knx.org to installer and integrator members of individual national KNX associations such as KNK UK.
