PALME Asia defies the odds in the current economic climate (25/8/2009)

Exhibitors and visitors alike had glowing reviews with regards to this year’s edition of PALME Asia, South East Asia’s Most Established International Professional Audio, Lighting, Audio Visual & Systems Integration Exhibition.

The three day event which took place from 16 to 18 July 2009 at Suntec Singapore marked several firsts in attracting the audience to the event amidst the current economic crisis!

First was the Visitor Fly-in Program, which was divided into the Hosted Buyers and the Targeted Visitors. The Hosted Buyers are purchasers from large organisations, both corporate and public as well as the key committee members of current and ongoing projects within the South East Asian region.

The Targeted Visitors were key visitors to the show, namely, Audio Consultants / Engineers, Lighting Consultants / Designers, Large Venue / Stadia Owners, Architects and key decision-makers from Houses of Worship. Another first was also the Connect @ PALME Asia Online Business Matching Platform, in which Buyers and Sellers of matching interests are paired up online. There were also a myriad of platforms to facilitate the business transactions between both buyers and sellers which included our special events like the Buyer-Seller Networking Luncheon, PALME Asia Industry Party and the PALME Asia Happy Hour. All these was given Thumbs Up in creating a conducive and interactive environment.

The exhibition also marked the most number of seminars in the history of PALME Asia. There were a total of 14 different seminars conducted by the experts in their respective fields. Said Mr. Vincent Ng, Senior Manager (Media), Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University. "The speaker of my seminar delivered a superb talk on the science and art of sound mix in live sound engineering and he provided many examples which I felt made the seminar interesting."

Besides, these VIP visitors, also in attendance at this year’s PALME Asia were the Chinese and Vietnamese group delegations led by, Mr. Zhang Yong Jia, Chairman of the China Entertainment Technology Association and Mr. La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director, from the Department of Tourism, Sports and Leisure, Ministry of Culture, Vietnam respectively.

In total, PALME Asia 2009 attracted a total visitorship of 4457 with 32% of the visitors coming from outside of Singapore. More importantly, the quality of visitors had many of our returning exhibitors raving about.

With these plans in the works, all signs point to an even better PALME Asia event in 2010...

The 2010 event will take place from 20 – 22 July 2010 in Ho Chin Minh, Vietnam, at the Tan Binh Exhibition and Convention Centre.
